Yes, today is my birthday. Dare I say I’m 28 again?
Mike asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday and the decision was tough. Take time for myself or spend it with the kids (who are PSYCHED it’s my birthday). After a week of school vacation and me taking care of the kids all the time, you would think I’d choose time to myself BUT we’ve had a terrific week and the kids have been fantastic. I will probably spend time with my family.
Usually the kids bicker and the tears come, but Isabelle and Jack have become fast friends again. Without the anxiety and exhaustion from school my twin-like children have come back. Isabelle especially has been so sweet! She hugs jack constantly (me too) and tells us she loves us. If Jack cries, she puts her arm around him and says it’s okay. Or she includes Jack in all her play or she says, Jack I’ll play trains with you. Jack is in HEAVEN. If he wants to show her something, Isabelle will look and then says “Jack that is really cool!”.
Isabelle: playing and sleeping with small dollies; quiet play; wrapping small things in ornate packages and giving us all presents; making small books; creative crafting; giving hugs and telling us how much she loves us; wants to play outside all the time; Lately she has taken to coming up to me, hugging me and saying “momma, I love you”
Jack: many breakdown in tears, but then the complete reverse and so excited about everything; the creative story-teller (dad channeling); saying the expression “What??!!!” to everything; love of outdoors; playing with his trains; enacting all sorts of schemes with trains – crashes and wrecks – the tracks are all over the table. Jack loves to snuggle too. He told me he loves my bathrobe.
Seamus: He has found his voice and he’s as loud as Jack. If he’s tired or wants something he let’s us know until he gets his way. Until the past few days he was not regular with his naps, which was frustrating. He seems to be settling in again, which makes me wonder if he had a growth spurt. No teeth yet, but is eating like a champ. He still nurses quite a bit, but loves food too. He sleeps from 7:00 to 4:30 most of the time until nursed and then he usually sleeps again. He still has the ready smil and after a nursing will swoon back against me with is sweet smile and coo. Each time he’s changed he laughs and giggles. Seamus has been so sweet for so long, that his cries and demands touch our nerves. Maybe he’s frustrated too???
Things we’ve done in Feb: walks in Bird sanctuary; building snow forts; sleding; outdoor play; making cookies and desserts; spring cleaning; read stories; trips to library; birthday parties; pizza at Heritage with friends; ballet; apartment cleanup; snowplay; walks to town; icicle eating; mogul huntin; watching olympics;
Jack funny (feb19): At the dinner table Isabelle suddenly says “ugh Jack just threw food at me!”, to which Jack replies, “NO I DIDN’T, I just flicked it”.

Happy Valentine’s Day to you!
Today is a day for love and thanksgiving. This page of photos shows all my sweethearts.
This year I have a wonderful cuddily new sweetheart. His constant smile, shining brown yellow eyes, and baby gurgles warms my heart.
Seamus – look at those eyes!

Seamus: Have I mentioned our sweetheart Seamus. The boy just exudes sweetness and charm. His eyes are smiley and he loves the kids. His excitement knows no bounds when he sees them. His eyes are turning a light brown and maybe will turn to gold…dare I say like mine?? Seamus just learned to sit up by himself. After a bit, he does topple over, but this is such a feat!
Jackism: we were giving a bath to jack tonight and mike said, “this is your forearm” and Jack said “where’s my two-arm”
Our tenant of four years just moved out. We are very sad to lose her. Now we need to decide what to do. I saw the apartment in our house for the first time in 4 years yesterday. Honestly it’s great to open the house fully. The apartment is beautiful with all the work Mike had done.
