A New Year!
January 15, 2010:
It was a rough December between the holidays, endless colds, Nona’s sickness and handling her nursing home care, and home time off from school. This past week we finally got over the hump and are getting back to normal.
January review: New Year’s at Di’s with Bob’s family; John visiting; birthday party for Abby; Love’s over for playdate; lunch at Heritage hosue with Memere; playing in snow’; eating snow;
December review: decorating tree and house; singing carols; games; grandma to hospital day after Christmas and then nursing home; Seamus with a cold for month. Colds for the two others; Christmas vacation; last minute shopping; excitement for santa; week off but no vacation; seamus learning to roll over; scooting around in circle; starting foods; sledding; iceskating;
Seamus: For the first time in a month Seamus is sleeping more regularly and is a happy camper. For most of the past month we had to hold him when he was awake and he was getting up 3 times a night. The nose is no longer running and he’s back to a cheery self.
His 6 month visit he weighed 20 pounds. At this age, Jack weighed 24 lbs. Seamus is average for his age in height, 90% for weight.
Seamus is getting better at sitting up himself, though he has to be held or he’ll fall over. He more regularly flip over from belly to back, NOT from back to belly.
He can now see something and grabs immediately. If caught the thing gets put in his mouth. At the table his reach is far.
We’ve started him on foods and it has been slow going. For a month and a half now he’ll each a few teaspoons a meal. I’m getting worried about my milk but he seems happy enough.
Friends today told me that Seamus looks like me. His beautiful brown eyes are turing lighter with hints of green. They are irish smiling eyes.
Isabelle: Must be going through a growth spurt. She has been eating like a horse, and though she’s a head shorter than anyone in her class, many of her clothes are getting shorter.
She’s doing much better in school and almost never has a “stomach ache”. She does not have a special friend in school, but she seems to enjoy her day. Mostly she’s just wiped by the time she comes home. Once in a while she comes off the bus and bursts into tears because some girls do not want to sit with her. breaks my heart. School work though and learning she is excelling at.
Right now she loves to do crafts and drawing. She’s also taken up with her dolls again doing all sorts of imaginary play.
Jack: He still loves school but is wiped by the end of the day.
