Jack: Nights are getting better. Jack wakes and nurses about 2 times a night. It’s the early morning feeding at 5:00 where he stays awake that is difficult.

Jack is much more alert now. He stares intently at things and can turn his head to a voice or a particular noise. He would rather sit up straight than lean back in a lap.

His eyes are blue, blue and he is such a chubb chubb. Immense is a better word. He likes to suck on his hands while sitting. He has discovered his thumb, which he is able to control better with each day. He can best suck on it while he’s sleeping on his belly, although I have seen him capture it while in the car seat.

Jack is screaming less and less in the car, and even at times falling asleep. Much better than Isabelle ever did.

The choking, spitting, stomach upset after each nursing has diminished as well. All around he seems to be such a happy, mellow little guy. Every time he sees me he gives me a great smile.

Isabelle: She is still feeling the effects of her cold from this past week. The cough is rough and the nose still runs. It was a few rough days when she didn’t sleep at all during the day…

Tears are a constant with Isabelle. If she doesn’t get what she wants, she’s cry. Sometime in ernest, sometimes a real fake cry. It’s challenging.

Bella loves going outdoors and digging in dirt, playing in the sandbox, picking flowers, wading in the pool, helping us in the yard. She especially like to use her watering can and water the flowers.

Isabelle aka ‘smarty pants’ is a keen observer. She knows where everything is located now. Today, I was wondering out loud where her sandals were and she kept saying over and over ‘up dair’. When I finally paid attention to her I realized she was right. We had left them upstairs.

Another time, I said I don’t know where the bibs are (because I was too lazy to get one) and she points to the kitchen drawer and says ‘in dair’. She was right.

Another time I caught Isabelle crying a bit in frustration. She was attempting to drag my cellphone charger cord (that was plugged in) to my phone in the stroller. The cord would not reach. Obviously she wanted to charge my phone.

Other things she does: shuts any door if it’s open; puts the dirty diapers away in the trash or diaper pail; puts shoes in the shoe pile; or any other task that is repetitive in the house. I only wish she would put away her toys…

The best is Isabelle sitting on the floor and then slapping the floor next to her and saying either ‘mama’ or ‘daddy’. Meaning, sit mama, sit.

New words: (words are slowly being pieced together)

Jack: Nights are getting better. Jack nurses and then goes to sleep immediately most of the time. He still wakes at least 3 times though…

Jack smiles a lot now and is rather chatty. He coos a great deal, and is such a character.

Most of all Jack is enormous. His hair is growing too!

Isabelle: Has been in better temper the past few days. Some of the teething is over…at least for now.

My sister is visiting from Germany and staying with us. It’s great to see her and Isabelle loves having a new playmate.

Isabelle is a character herself. She is continuously coming up with funny things. Every time I go to make a call, she says “hello,” and when I say bye, she says “Bye.”

Since her cousins visit, Isabelle likes to stand on the kitchen chairs. We have a tough time putting her into the highchair. Every time I turn around she has climbed up and is hoping to climb the table. It seems in one week she has become such a challenge. Hourly she is coming up with something new. I’m getting rather tired of constantly saying NO.

The most challenging part of my day is pasifying Isabelle. She is now slightly jealous of Jack. Every time I say I’m going to get baby, she wants to be picked up. Or, if I’m to nurse, she wants to be in my lap. Or, if Mike is holding the baby, she wants me to be with her (or vice versa).

She has named Mr. Soldier – Baba.

-she waves bye and says “BYE” when a person leaves.
-points to herself when she means ME
-points to the floor/ground when she wants you to play with her – meaning play with me MOM.

New words: in there, hello, bye, up
