I’m still here, 38 1/2 weeks. On Thursday night I thought the baby was coming, but it was just a warning for Mike and I to finalize packing, clean our room, bring stuff to the attic, finalize names, etc. Within the next few weeks we’ll have new family member. Outside of regular leg aches and braxton hixs (sp?) I feel great. I only wish the sun would come out for a while. We are drowning in rain.

So, last night we set up Jack’s little bed and moved him out of his crib (can you imagine we waited this long?). Honestly I was very sad about it, seeing him lying there without protection around him. He’s getting so big! I felt doubly bad when he fell out of bed 5 times throughout the night. Poor guy!
Had my non-stress test yesterday (checking to see if the baby is stressed, isn’t that a hoot?), all because of my age. Baby of course is fine, moving lots, same as last week.
Last Saturday we joined friends at the Love’s house for a BBQ. There were at least 15 kids running around.
Last Friday evening we took the kids to the Dalton Carnival, first time for all of us. Despite the cool weather we had a GREAT time. We started out with dinner of hamburgers and hotdogs from a food stand and ate at a picnic table. The place didn’t open until 6:00 so we walked around looking at everything. Then we bought tickets and started the rides. I thought for sure that the noise and rides would scare the kids, but I was wrong. Jack and Mike started with the little train, THEN all three rode ona small bus, the pumpkins, dragon ships, the merry go round and their favorite, the ferris wheel! Obviously I couldn’t ride, but I had so much fun watching their excitement. My favorite is Isabelle dancing with her umbrella to the music of all the rides while we waited at the portapots.

May was amazingly busy. Events include kids biking, picking flowers and dandelions, running through lilac park, finishing ballet, feeding the ducks at Stonover Farm, memorial weekend parade, mom visiting, finding nest of baby bunnies in yard, school orientation and screenings, friends over to cottage, canoeing and turtle catching. Other activities include mowing lawns, mulching house and cottage, reorganizing plants around barn, huge cleanup at cottage, finding new tenant for Morgan Manor, ear tests, lots of doctor’s visits for me, working diligently at my job…hoping to accomplish lots before the baby is born, creating a huge todo wish list (also before baby is born). Highlights of the month: tagsale with McCormacks and Reinholts, visiting my brother Bob and his family (watching Jackie dance and Dan play soccer), Isabelle starting T-ball, memorial weekend parties, Mike’s brother Tom visiting, mini-vacations at cottage.
Pregnancy 36 weeks: May also included the baby getting much bigger. I’m not visiting the doctor once a week and now because of my age, I have to start getting a stress test each week. 🙂 Stress for me or the baby? 🙂 Anyway the baby moves an incredible amount. Mostly the kicks are on the right upper side of my belly, just the same as the other two, which will probably mean back labor again. The baby is already head down, which is great news. Placenta previa is no longer a problem. This past month I have loved being pregnant and wishing I had more time to enjoy it. There are so many things I want to get done and with so little time to accomplish these tasks. Hurry up and enjoy the moment and Mike and I always say. Only a few nights ago we finally discussed the baby, did the initial packing of the bag, made a list of our baby todos, and looked at some names. None of these tasks are completely done. Time is getting short so we had better get our act together. Anyway, I’ve been feeling great, sleeping well, etc. The only recent issue is fitting into pants (even maternity pants) and the inability to sit for long periods of time (restless leg and stomach really bothers me. Since I don’t sit during the day, it’s mostly an issue when I try to do my work at night. Actually there is one more issue that bothers me and that is my patience level, which is nil. I’m very impatient with the kids and often exasperated. The kids are most of the time acting normally and well behaved and there I am yelling or irrational. Let’s hope it’s hormones, because there are times I do not like myself.
Mike and I are both unsure the sex of this baby. This time we really do not have an inkling. Either one I will be happy for and sad that I do not have the other.
Spring: Everything is growing by leaps and bounds. Thus far spring has been so beautiful, though I must admit a bit cold. I’m still wearing pants and long sleeves most of the time.
Sickness: May has also been a month of the kids having ear infections and the stomach bugs. To think that we thought winter over and sicknesses would be done. Isabelle has had 5 ear infections this year, which may possibly be caused by allergies. I’m going to get her tested. Jack also had what we thought was a bladder infection. Instead it was irritation and diahhrea for 1.5 weeks.
Quote of the week:
“I need the booktionary to sit on” (Isabelle talkingabout the dictionary she likes to sit on while she eats when we are at the cottage.)
WHAT THEY DO:
Isabelle: since January she has had 5 stomach bugs. Isabelle has had 5 ear infections this year too, which may possibly be caused by allergies. I’m going to get her tested in the next few weeks.
Biking continues to improve and she speeds along ringing her little bell.
Ballet just finished and though she did not want to be in the recital, she loved every minute of her classes. There is nothing she likes better than to dress up in her outfit dance around the house.
Attitude changes have developed too. No longer is the lenient little girl. She’s more stubborn now, she more readily ‘humphs’ and stomps away if she does not get her way. She still wants me to smile all the time though and will look at me and say “smile mommy” or “I love you mama”.
Best friend now is her white bunny, though the friend changes almost every few days. Yes, she is still sucking her thumb.
Jack: The tantrums have lessened a bit as we’ve modified our reactions. The thrashing and hitting has turned into a high-pitched scream, resulting in tears. He can’t stand going into time-out and begs for blankie.
Jack loves puzzles, painting especially; playdo, and dancing. Any time music plays he dances round and round in a circle. He loves biking and peddals like mad, hunched over the handle bars. Playing in mud and sloshing in water is another great pasttime.
He is still still snuggly, especially when he gets up for nap. Jack is STILL in a crib (which he has outgrown). We hope to put him in a bed soon.
What he loves to do best is throw and catch a ball – football or baseball. Whatever. He loves it. Because of T-ball he often plays with Mike’s old glove and begs to play with Mike or I. Obviously Mike plays most with him and it’s amazing how skilled he is becoming.
JACK AND BELLA TOGETHER:
They are each other’s playmate so far and Jack lives for Isabelle. More fighting is taking place though, especially as Isabelle is less tolerent of Jacks meddling.
Bella’s getting closer to some girls on her t-ball team and already I see the changes taking place when she will have a best-friend and Jack will be left behind.
