Seamus is now 11 months old. Just in the past few days he has developed exponentially. He has started crawling very fast, he’s into everything, just climbed up first step, just pulled himself up two days ago and is now doing it all the time, eating more solid foods, eating waffle himself, having tantrums. He cries when we leave the room or gives us his two-tooth smile.
He still has two bottom teeth only, but his finger is in his mouth constantly.

Yesterday was Fran’s 90th birthday. Wow!!! The kids are lucky to have a Nona in their lives.

Mike has been flat out preparing the cottage for our first tenant, who arrives this coming weekend. Every year at this time we come close to letting the place go, but the kids love the place. I only wish we could stay there ourselves for more than a few weekends a year. It consumes our time.

With this awful heat, the kids have been basking in the kiddy pool and we’ve been in heaven enjoying the cottage beach for a few evenings.

Happy Mother’s Day to me!! Isabelle made gave me a beaded potted petunia plant and a flower card that opened. Jack gave me an impatien flower in a cup and Seamus slept ALL night for the first time…all the way to 6:00am. Good boy!!!
The weather could be better…it’s freezing out and so windy!

The weather has been all over the place. So hot we’ve had the sprinkler out, then snow two days later. And the wind is relentless. It’s no wonder the kids got colds this past week.

The cooneys have been non-stop busy. What with getting the cottage together for our summer tenants, settling in our new tenant in our house, moving Mike’s grandmother to her new home, preping our yard, school, after school activities, play dates, work, jobs, etc., Mike and I are flat out exhausted. Activities: playing in sand at cottage; laying out mulch; painting cottage; playing t-ball; ballet; biking; picking flowers; working in flower beds; Seamus’ surgery; colds; laying low; spring vacation; time together.

The most pressing item though is all done. Seamus’ surgery is all over. Because he had caught a cold over the weekend I thought the sugery would be canceled, but we were luckily able to keep it. Last Tuesday we took him to Baystate at 4:30am for the surgery (a boy thing). Mike took him in for the anethesia and a few hours later we were able to hold our baby again. Groggy, listless, we were so happy to hold him. The doctor fixed what he had to do, and in the meantime found a hernia and a few polllops which he cleared up. When Seamus woke, I chugged down 3 bottles of Pedialyte and with some final tests we were off to home and arrived back by 12:00. Given tylenol with codine he slept ‘like a babe’. The first day he was listless and that night he only woke once. The next day he was a bit better, but still laid low. Now he’s crawling around like normal and occasionally taking regular Tylenol.
Before the surgery, I had been excited that I was still nursing because babies can nurse up to 3 hours before surgery, otherwise no food after mid-night. BUT the night before surgery Seamus refused to nurse before bed AND he refused to nurse during the night. Since then he has REFUSED to nurse. So I guess it’s over. It was too abrupt for me, and I wanted some more snuggling time with my last, but at least I enjoyed 10 months with him.
Unfortunately, Seamus is not drinking anything – either from a bottle, sippy cup, straw, medicine dispenser, etc. We are at a loss at what to do.

Bella: starting to recognize words and able to write so well by copying something OR writing the words she knows. Simple sentences even.
She’s loving school now. She runs off the bus in smiles and excitement, full ove energy until she reaches home where she crashes. It’s GREAT to see that confident contagious smile again after 8 months. She doesn’t have a close friend, but that will come.

Jack: He now does not want to go to school. He’d rather stay with me, though once he’s at school and I leave he has a wonderful time. He’s loud as ever and a great entertainer who pushes mike’s buttons all the time. His favorite thing is to say “I love you, all of you, Mom, dad, bella, seamus and kitty”

Seamus: Did I mention he’s stubborn???? He can crawl really well now and is zipping along. He can roll either way and sit from a crawling position. He LOVES jack and bella and jack gets him to do belly laughs. Curious, with large brown eyes, and his two bottom teeth you just have to kiss him. He give the underbite smile constantly and is now throwing back head and letting out a laugh.
