Jack quote:
This afternoon, while I’m pumping milk into a yellow tinted bottle, Jack says to me “Mommy why are you pumping yellow milk?”

Isabelle & Jack Quote:
At dinner tonight Isabelle said “I’m going to be a cowgirl when I grow up” and Jack piped up “when I grow up I’m going to be a grown up Jack!”

Seamus is 3 months today! Amazing how time has flown and how much he has wormed his way into our hearts.

Seamus now smiles when we smile, and coos and says “ah gee”, which the kids think mean “hi”. He’ll give me great smiles and starts of a laugh everytime he sees my face. It’s especially cute in the middle of the night after I’ve nursed him, and in the process of sleepily changing him, to see this broad grin of a little person so glad to see me. It makes the broken sleep so worth it.

Today was the Apple squeeze in Lenox. The town was SO packed, the most I’ve ever seen it at this event. Millions of kids now especially since they have lots of games, etc. for kids.

So each day I pick up Jack from School, Isabelle spots me. Either she is in the playground or coming out of the school or going in. When she sees me she starts to ball. I feel rotten.

Activities since August 24th: visiting with Deepali; the Cummington Fair; first days of school for Jack and Bella; tub parade; staying at the cottage; visit with Pauline; friends at the cottage; Cowhigs party; ABC party; Mike & me 10 year anniversary since we first met; first colds of the year (jack bad cold) and both missing two days of school; cold weather;

Since school has started it has been a time or extreme adjustment. The kids are exhausted from school and their first colds season.
Isabelle loves riding the bus best. She seems to like her teachers a lot (Mrs. Munday and Mrs. Pehlert), but socializing with the kids is overwhelming. The worst is the cafeteria where she had only 20 minutes to eat in a place that is pandemonium. The first few times she cried the whole time and didn’t eat lunch (she scarfed it at home). Then they had an adult sit with her and make sure she ate her lunch. The the past few times she has sat with kids, although she told me on Friday that the girl that was sitting next to her moved away to another table and she was left alone. Each day though she gets off the bus with her beautiful smile and says she had fun. After she is home she tells of various events of the day. She never says she cries or is sad unless I ask her. Mostly it’s that she misses me. My one hope is that she will adjust soon, become familiar with things, and make a little friend. She has been so strong thus far and I want her to be truly happy.
When bella gets on the bus, Jack hugs and they kiss. It’s so cute. He’s still heartbroken when she goes and is actually angry at her when she comes home because she left him. I’m hoping that once he is in a pattern of school (3 mornings a week), that he’ll back off. Right now he’s a brute towards everyone. Very disrespectful, mean, combative. We’re extremely exasperated knowing that he’s acting this way from being insecure and exhausted, but also knowing we have to do something because he can’t get away with everything.

September 8: Jack’s first day of school was on September 8th. I gathered all the kids and rushed to Morris. Before we left, I tried to take picture, but the camera battery was dead. First day of school missed. Instead of Bella taking the bus, she was going to stay in Jack’s room until her grade started school. Upon entering the room, Jack abandoned Bella and I to go play with trains. Poor Bella! Go Jack.
When I picked him up, the kindergarteners were in the playground near where I had to pick up jack. When I went to get him, Bella had spotted me and was sobbing, with her hands through the fence “mommy, I want to go home!!”. Ugh, so terribly hard. Upon getting into our car, Jack said “mommy, I had fun!”. So school is great for Jack, but it’s after that we’re paying the price. He’s been a bear.

First day of Kindergarten. Bella did it! She got on the bus with no tears. Mom, Mike and I were kissing and waving goodbye, smiles on our faces and we look down to see Jack crying saying “I don’t want bella to go to school”.

Look at bella and jack above. What beautiful kids I have…

Kindergarten starts tomorrow! All the stuff we need to prepare: names on clothes and stuff; pack backpack; pack a lunch; pick an outfit; reread schedule. Bella will be picked up by bus at 9:40 and will finish at 1:30. Today only kindergarteners will be on the bus, for which I’m grateful. I wonder how it’s going to be.

This past weekend we went to the Cummington Fair. THe kids have been waiting all year to go to it and they had a fabulous time. The weather was fantastic and they enjoyed every minute we were there. So fun!!
